Meredith wen

Meredith (she/they) discovered her yoga practice in early 2007 at the Yoga Yard in Beijing, China. A competitive athlete since youth, she initially approached yoga as a form of cross training, but soon became a regular, devoted student after

experiencing the respite it offered from the city’s hectic pace.

In February 2016, Meredith completed her Ashtanga Vinyasa 200-hour YTT in Rishikesh, India and founded Yangshuo Yoga, a donation-based community in Southern China. She was also invited to return as an instructor to the Yoga Yard and taught in embassies, international schools, and at events across Beijing and Asia. The birth of her son in Bangkok, Thailand, in 2020, was another inflection point in Meredith’s approach towards rehabilitative movement and mobility. She subsequently completed certification in pre- and postpartum fitness and postpartum yoga. She is also midway through the completion of her Ballet Barre certification. Since moving to Toronto, Meredith has taught in gyms and studios, building a unique

mobility program that helps students build functional range through prop-supported mindful movement and myofascial release. Meredith’s classes are informed by her passions for rock-climbing and hand- (un)balancing. Her approach is intensely physical and internally focused, melding alignment, movement, and pranayama in a creative, mindful practice. She extends her thanks to the multitude of teachers who have lit her path and them students who continue to challenge and inspire her.
